Amealco, a Pueblo Magico of Waterfalls and Maria Dolls
Amealco de Bonfil is one of the oldest towns in the state of Queretaro and is one of the newest on the list of pueblos magicos. Founded in 1538, Amealco de Bonfil is a place of history and tradition, agriculture and waterfalls. Amealco de Bonfil is located a few minutes from the state border of Queretaro and the State of Mexico. It’s an hour south of Queretaro and just over 2 hours from Mexico City off of Highway 57. Discover the Treasures of Puebla
Known worldwide for its talavera, Barroque architecture and mole poblano, Puebla is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a true treasure of Mexican life from past to present. Puebla was not created until 1531 after the Spanish Conquest where it became an important stop on the trade route between Veracruz and Mexico City. For travelers who enjoy history and architecture, Puebla should be at the top of your list. Wine, Cheese and Magic Towns
If you only have a few days to explore the state of Queretaro, I recommend taking the Wine & Cheese Tour with stops in the magic towns, or Pueblos Magicos, of Bernal and Tequisquipan. We did this tour on our first visit. This ultimately led us to fall in love with not just the city of Queretaro, but the surrounding area as well. This particular tour is not offered online. We signed up for it at the tourist kiosk by the Templo de San Francisco.
