San Miguel de Allende has been charming visitors for decades with its colorful streets, art and mercados. Conde Nast Traveler readers have named San Miguel de Allende the Best Small City in the World in 2017, 2018, 2020, and 2021, and 2022. We won’t be surprised if they are number one again in 2023.
And now there’s another reason to visit this compact artisan community… wineries! Our tours will show you the best wineries just outside of the city, the Sistine Chapel of Mexico in Atotonilco, the pueblo magico of Dolores Hidalgo where the Mexican War of Independence began, and so much more!

Shop for talavera, walk through the plaza and taste uniquely flavored ice cream (mezcal, anyone?) and have time to explore the mercado and museums.

Less than two weeks from now we will be celebrating our one-year anniversary living in Mexico. This post was updated in 2022. Living overseas, our goal is to not have a mortgage. The less expenses we have as we get older, the better. Buying property…
